… Suffolk County on Long Island allows a victims’ advocacy group, Parents of Megan’s Law, to monitor sex offenders. The measure was approved unanimously in February of this year and is being heralded by lawmakers as a cost-effective way to keep the community safe. Parents for Megan’s Law is a nonprofit organization that will receive close to $1 million a year to implement the new sex offender monitoring law. This is an obvious conflict of interest and removes any sense of neutrality by those persons assigned to this task. This is definitely a step towards mob rule and a very dicey area. Does this cover those on parole/probation or are they going to harass everyone convicted decades before these idiotic laws came into play?

Makes perfect sense, right? Give power to a bunch of lawless amateurs looking for a fight to pick; give them the ability to follow, to “monitor”, to spy, peep, harass and at some point, shoot, beat or otherwise inflict mayhem on someone who just wants to live a peaceful life. Video record everything. Most smart phones these days have that capability. If you don’t have a smart phone, try to get one. Record all contact with law enforcement. Check the laws in your state to make sure its legal. There is a case pending certiorari with SCOTUS, ACLU v. Alvarez. If SCOTUS reviews the case and upholds the ruling then it will be legal to record law enforcement officers in all 50 states.
Wow, this is a rather disturbing article. Here is what I think. I think this is going to cause or result in a lawsuit. I’ve honestly never heard of anything like this. As your all aware, we recently had an issue in Florida where an armed neighborhood watch captain shot a boy. Now, I’m not taking sides with the boy, but what if some overzealous individual shoots and kills an innocent victim, attacks the wrong person, misidentifies someone, makes false accusations or causes someone to loose a job because they are an overzealous retired fat guy with nothing better to do? This is very disturbing. I see lawsuit and ACLU written all over it
Why don’t people open their eyes, wake up and look around themselves? It’s not about the offender or his rehabilitation. It’s all about the money. The laws are all about fanning the flames emflaming the public and generating more revenue for law enforcement.
America has a perverted love-hate relationship with its RSOs. The various governments love the funds generated and at the same time propagate hatred for the registrants in order to keep the vine healthy. And the Media is more than happy to throw rocket fuel on the flames so they can get their piece of the sex offender pie.
WAKE UP UNREGISTERED AMERICANS!!! they are coming for you next. This is where it starts. With those whose rights they have already destroyed. The government is a great Beast who is grinding its poor into the dust. These excercises against one group of people are strengthening the Beast to dominate everyone. If they can do what they have done to me and some 700,000 others, what makes you think you are safe?
